April 25, 1997 1296 Townline Road. Mother and 4 children safely evacuated. Fire reported at 2055 hours. Eileen Rosenbaum, the occupant, was alerted to the fire when a smoke detector activated. FD encountered heavy fire in a bedroom on the 2nd floor and had extended out into the hallway. The fire was knocked down within 10 minutes. Central Islip FD sent an engine to cover the district for the duration. Fire was a result of a child playing with a lighter. John Scimeca was Chief and OIC.
