Hauppauge FD-Two arrested for fire at the Hauppauge High School

May 20, 1987 Two students are arrested after pouring a trail of rubber cement down a stairwell and outside of the school and then set it on fire. The school was evacuated and the fire department was called. The two teens were arrested and charged with 2nd degree arson.
There have been at least six fires at the school since September of last year. While none have resulted in any injury to students or teachers, the Superintendant of Schools, Dr. Jerome Malkan said that they are troublesome.
One fire was in a boys bathroom, another was in the auditorium near the stage.
