June 4, 1955 Fire starts in an outboard motor and spreads to the boat. 3 youths jump into the water and are rescued by David L’Hommedieu of Smithtown who was in his boat nearby. The fire was reported as “in the Harbor by Ryans shore” which was on the west side of the Harbor near Stillwater. Smithtown News 6-9-1955.
