June 11, 1953. The Smithtown Chiefs Council held a pump relay drill at the KPPC. The member departments participated with one or more pieces of apparatus as called upon by the Kings Park Fire Department in a regular set-up of calling under the mutual aid agreement of the council.
The drill proved very successful with the laying of 5,250 feet of 2 ½ inch hose through 6 pumpers and maintaining a nozzle pressure of 50 pounds. The water was drawn from the state hospital reservior.
This drill, the third since the council was formed a year ago, has again shown the cooperation that existd between the departments of the Smithtown Township which consists of the St. James, Nesconset, Hauppauge, Kings Park, Kings Park State Hospital and the Smithtown Fire Department’s.
