Kings Park-Teenager arrested for threatening to blow up Kings Park High School

January 25, 2013, 1610 hours.  Suffolk County Police today arrested an Islip teenager after he posted an online threat to blow up the Kings Park High School gymnasium. Fourth Squad detectives, with the assistance of officers from Fourth Precinct Patrol and Third Precinct Crime Section, investigated a complaint from Kings Park High School officials that an individual had made a post on the online messaging service Twitter that indicated he had obtained a bomb to blow up the “Kingdome,” a reference to the Kings Park High School gymnasium. School officials had previously been aware of students posting comments on Twitter regarding the rivalry between Kings Park High School and Islip High School.  Steven Taggert, 16, of 88 Herbert St., was charged with Falsely Reporting an Incident 2^ndDegree and will be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on January 26.
