Township Disaster Drill held at the Hauppauge High School

June 21, 2022 Hauppauge High School was selected as the site for the first drill in a series of mutual aid drills for schools in the Smithtown Township, conducted under the auspices of the Smithtown Fire Chiefs Council.

The drill commenced at 1900 hours when personnel from Hauppauge, Smithtown, Commack, St. James, Nesconset and Kings Park FDs, as well as CI-Hauppauge Ambulance responded lights and sirens from their stations to a reported fire in the school.
Crews flowed water and rescued a “victim” from within.

The drill was meant to familiarize firefighters with school buildings and to determine the strength of all equipment available and to evaluate unforseen problems that were encountered.

In total, 8 engines, 2 ladders, 1 light truck and 2 fire police companies took part in the drill.
