Kings Park FD-House fire on Upper Dock Road

June 20, 1991. Fire is reported at 0111 hours by a passerby who states that he sees smoke coming from the back of the building. 91 Upper Dock Road. Fred Kleppsattel is Chief of Department and OIC. Smithtown FD to the scene with an engine and ambulance, Commack FD with a ladder and engine and East Northport FD covered. Fire started in the basement of this illegal multiple dwelling and was placed under control just after 0300 hours. 60 firefighters on scene. 1 firefighter transported with an eye injury. 5 firefighters treated at the scene. Smithtown Fire Marshals investigate along with Arson. This was deemed an arson fire by Detecive O’Leary. This was a two and a half story wood frame dwelling. There were two separate apartments on the upper level. The building was vacant at the time of the fire. Numerous spent flares were found within the building
