Hauppauge FD-Lithium batteries burn in commercial building

June 20, 2022, 1444 hours. The Hauppauge Fire Department is dispatched to 88 Arkay Drive for a structure fire. While en-route, units were advised that lithium batteries were burning inside the building, which is occupied by ULC Robotics. Units arrived to find a light smoke condition within the building. Firefighters contained the batteries and removed them from the building. Once outside, the batteries were immersed in water to keep them from reigniting. The batteries were then burned off in the parking lot as per the manufacturers instructions. Fire Marshals from the Town of Smithtown were also on scene. There were no injuries. Hauppauge FD photos.
