June 29, 1953 Smithtown FD contracts with the Village of the Branch for fire protection for 1954 The existing 1953 contract was for $1500.00. The 1954 contract was for $2500.00. The increase brought the village up to the same cost level as the rest of the town taxpayers for fire protection.
