July 10, 2022 1903 hours. The Terryville Fire Department responds to 58 Superior Street in regard to a report of a house fire. Units arrive to find an active fire in a private dwelling. Firefighters had the fire knocked down within 15 minutes. Firefighters found 83 year old Catherine Davis deceased within the house. John Davis, 79, husband of the deceased, was able to exit the house on his own and was transported to Stony Brook Hospital in critical condition.
Mutual aid provided by the Setauket, Selden and Coram fire departments at the scene.
Centereach and PJ Amb covered for Terryville for the duration of the incident. Fire Marshals from the Town of Brookhaven along with Suffolk Homicide and Arson detectives are handling the investigation.
