St. James Eagle Hook and Ladder purchases ladder from the Smithtown Volunteer Hook and Ladder Company

July 14, 1909 St. James purchases the rig that Smithtown purchased in 1908 from the Bayport Fire Department. Smithtown purchased a new used hook and ladder from the Combination Hook and Ladder Company in Providence RI for $375.00. This was secured by a number of members who put up notes of $37.50 each.

Note: This is the oldest photo that I have found of the Eagle Hook and Ladder Company (aka St. James Fire Department. I do not have any information as to who took the photo. I tried to find out whether Bayport was the first owner of this rig but I have not had success. Bayport FD was founded in 1891.
