December 20, 2019 0440 hours, The Farmingville Fire Department is activated for a structure fire at 1274 Waverly Avenue. Upon arrival of First Assistant Chief Mike Lopue, he reactivated a working structure fire and requested mutual aid from the Holtsville, Ronkonkoma and Medford Fire Departments. The first due crew from Ladder 7 stretched a hose line and made the initial attack along with the crew from Engine 4. an additional line was stretched and crews extinguished the fire, which caused extensive damage to the structure. The occupants were able to escape without injury. No firefighters were injured. The Town of Brookhaven Fire Marshals Office is handling the fire investigation.
