August 22, 1955 Donald Sullivan, 18 of Maspeth Queens drowned in Lake Ronkonkoma today despite the efforts of his three friends to save him Mr. Sullivan had gone swimming at Yerks Beach with three friends Within minutes of entering the water, Sullivan disappeared. His friends were unable to locate him. Lifeguards pulled him out shortly thereafter hut attempts by the Lakeland Fire Department and Islip Town police were unsuccessful.
