August 17, 1974 Fire reported at 0112 hours. Two thirds of the building were gutted. 2 firefighters were injured. At the time of the fire, part of the building was a barn that was approximately 100 years old. Another section of the building had been an annex to the original St. James School building. This section was moved to Brooksite drive. Both of these sections of the building were destroyed. Smithtown News 8-22-1974
