August 4, 2003 Kings Park Firefighter Greg Smith was camping with his family at Smith Point Park when he was alerted to a subject in distress out in the ocean. Smith swam out and brought the victim back to shore, rendering first aid until EMS units arrived. Firefighter/EMT Smith was recognized by the Kings Park Fire Department during their October 2003 Department meeting.
