Kings Park FD-Fire in Building 44 at the State hospital

September 10, 2014, 0648 hours. The Kings Park Fire Department is dispatched to a report of a fire on the grounds of the State Hospital. Units arrive to find heavy fire on the upper level of building 44, which is the vacant food storage warehouse. This is a two story 250X150 brick structure.

Kings Park is assisted by the following fire departments:

Smithtown-Engine to the scene
Northport-Engine and truck to the scene
Commack FD-FAST (ladder and TRT)
CVAC-Ambulance
Nissequogue FD-Tanker to the scene
East Northport engine to the scene
St. James FD-engine to cover
Nesconset FD-ladder to cover
Greenlawn FD-Ambulance to cover
Brentwood Ambulance

The Town of Smithtown sent heavy equipment to the scene and breached to south wall to allow FD personnel to operate with tower ladders. The fire was placed under control at 1122 hours. All FD personnel were released at 1317 hours. Fire Marshals from the Town of Smithtown and Suffolk Arson handle the investigation.
