Hauppauge-Forest Protective Service is organized

March 6, 1929. Incorporation of the Central Long Island Forest Protective Association, which was created a few months prior, took place today. The mission of the service is to patrol and guard against brush and forest fires. E.C. Hoyt of Commack has been elected president of the association, which is made up of owners of large tracts of land which has almost yearly been damaged by wildfires in the Hauppauge and Commack areas.
