Remembering those from the Smithtown Township that perished on 9/11

The following people from this Township were murdered on 9/11. Sadly, many more have passed since then as a result of illness related to this event.

Commack
Ezra Aviles-Age 41. Port Authority Senior Manager for Strategic Planning and Development died in the South Tower. Age 41. His body was found in the rubble four days after the collapse of the towers.

Eric Adam Eisenberg-Age 32. Employed by Aon Corp and died in the South Tower.

James Donald Munhall-Age 45. Worked for Sandler O’Neill & Partners Investment Firm. Died in the South Tower.

Joseph A. Kelly-Age 40. Worked for Cantor Fitzgerald.

Dennis Scauso Age 46. FDNY Firefighter assigned to Haz-Mat 1 in Queens. He died in the south tower. Only his helmet was recovered.

Hauppauge
LeRoy Homer-Age 36. United Airlines First Officer. The Desert Storm veteran died with his crew and passengers when the San Francisco-bound plane from Newark crashed Sept. 11 in Shanksville Pennsylvania.

James Joseph Suozzo-Age 47. Corporate Bond Broker at Cantor Fitzgerald with an office on the 105th floor in the north tower. His remains were not recovered.

Jose Angel Martinez Jr-Age 49. Worked for Forest Electric. Died in the North tower.

Frank V Moccia Sr.-Age 57. Facility Planner for Washington Group International. He was descending the south tower with fellow employees, but returned with a colleague to check on anyone left behind.

John James Tipping II-Age 33. FDNY firefighter assigned to Ladder Co. 4 in Manhattan. He died in the collapse of the south tower. He had tried to shield a civilian with his body as the tower came crashing down.

Raymond Meisenheimer-Age 46. FDNY firefighter assigned to Rescue 3 in the Bronx.

Peter Brennan-Age 30. FDNY Firefighter assigned to Rescue 4 in Queens. Prior to his service in the FDNY, Pete, was New York City police officer in the 101st precinct and on the Queens Task Force.

Kings Park
Thomas Butler-Age 37. FDNY Firefighter assigned to Squad 1 in Brooklyn. Butler’s remains were never found.

Jeffrey Fox-Age 41. Keefe, Bruyette & Woods and died in the South Tower.

Rudolph Mastrocinque-Age 43. Property Claims Representative for Marsh & McLennan Securities Corp. Died in the North Tower. His remains were never recovered.

Martin E. McWilliams-Age 32. FDNY Firefighter assigned to Engine 22 in Manhattan. His body was recovered two days later.

Manika K. Narula-Age 22. Data Processor for Cantor Fitzgerald. Her office was on the 101st floor of the north tower. Narula’s remains were never found.

Gregory Stajk-Age 46. FDNY Firefighter assigned to Ladder 13 in Manhattan. He was on the 37th floor of the north tower. His remains were recovered in November of 2001. Stajak was a star pitcher for Kings Park HS in the 70s and had tried out for the Reds.

Michael Thomas Russo Sr.-Age 44. FDNY Lieutenant assigned to Rescue 5 on Staten Island.

Cynthia Giugliano-Age 46. Chief Technical Specialist for Empire Blue Cross/Blue Shield on the 27th floor of Tower 1.

Kris Robert Hughes-Age 30. Securities Trader at Keefe, Bruyette & Woods. Died in the South Tower.

Nissequogue
Donald J. Burns-Age 61. FDNY Assistant Chief-Citywide Tour Commander. He was last seen setting up a command post in the south tower. Burns had been the commander of Tower 1 at the 1993 World Trade Center bombing.

Patrick Thomas Dwyer-Age 37. Senior Vice President at Cantor Fitzgerald. 104th floor of the north tower. His remains were recovered Dec. 20, 2001. Three of Dwyer’s cousins were also killed on 9/11: Gregory Stajk, 46, of Long Beach and Martin McWilliams, 35, of Kings Park, both city firefighters, and Thomas Collins, 36, who grew up in Dix Hills and was a managing director at Sandler O’Neill & Partners.

-Age 50. Nurse at Marsh & McLennan in the North Tower.

Daniel O’Callaghan-Age 42. FDNY Lieutenant assigned to Ladder 4 in Manhattan. Though he came from a family chock-full of police officers – including six active officers and eight retired from departments in New York City and on Long Island – O’Callaghan, switched to the fire department, after three years as a cop.

William J. McGovern-Age 49. FDNY Battalion Chief-2nd Battalion in Manhattan.

Joseph John Perroncino-Age 33. Cantor Fitzgerald-101st floor of the North Tower.

Edward J. Perrotta-Age 43. Vice President in the Energy Brokerage Division of Cantor Fitzgerald-North Tower.

Kenneth Thomas Watson-Age 39. FDNY firefighter assigned to Engine 214 in Brooklyn.

St. James
Douglas E. Oelschlager-Age 36. FDNY Firefighter assigned to Ladder 15 in Manhattan. His shift had ended but he returned to the firehouse after a plane hit one of the towers. Rescue workers found a part of his helmet that bears his badge number in the south tower. His remains were not recovered.
