Commack FD sends a RIT to East Northport house fire. CVAC sends an ambulance.

Posted 2/28/2019

On Thursday afternoon at 12:27pm The East Northport Fire Department responded to a Working Residential Structure Fire on Ripley Drive.

Under the command of Chief Flanagan and Chief Bourne crews worked extremely aggressively to extinguish heavy fire on all floors and the attic of the home as well as search the home, verifying all occupants had self-evacuated. Crews were met with several challenges including a partial collapse in the rear of the structure.

Due to the quick and aggressive attack by our members and our mutual aid companies, the fire was extinguished with minimal extension to other areas of the structure. The scene was deemed under control after 2 hours. Two civilians were treated and transported by EMS to a local hospital for smoke inhalation.

ENFD operated with 4 Engines, 3 ambulances, a paramedic unit, fire police, 2 rehab/support units as well as the Cyanide Response Team provided by Paramedics from the Dix Hills Fire Department Greenlawn Fire Department and Commack Volunteer Ambulance Corps.

Mutual aid assistance was received from the Northport, Greenlawn, Commack and Kings Park Fire Department’s and the Commack Volunteer Ambulance Corps

The scene was turned over to the Town of Huntington Fire Marshals office and the Suffolk County Police Department’s Arson Squad for an investigation. (Story via East Northport FD Facebook Page.)
