Hauppauge Fire Department Ex-Captain Edward Smith passes

46 year member and Ex-Captain Edward Smith of the Hauppauge Fire Department passed into life eternal on August 4th. 92 year old Smith, was a career soldier in the United States Army. He was awarded the bronze star for his service in Europe in World War II and retired from the Army as a Master Sergeant drill instructor. He then worked for LILCO as a welder. He joined the Fire Department in 1972 and attained the rank of Captain of Engine Company 3.  His Grandson is currently the Captain of our Engine Company 1. He will surely be missed by his family, friends and the members of the Hauppauge Fire Department.

A wake was held on August 6th and 7th at Moloney's Funeral Home in Hauppauge. There was a firematic service at the funeral home on Wednesday night and a funeral mall was held at St. Thomas Moore Church on Thursday. Mr. Smith was interred at Calverton National Cemetary.
