House fire on Hillside Avenue in St. James.

St. James and Nesconset Fire Departments were dispatched to a report of a house on fire at 46 Hillside Avenue at 1739 hours (St. James District). The call was upgraded to a working fire at 1743 hours with units arriving to find heavy fire in the front portion of the house. Smithtown FD was requested for a truck and Stony Brook was requested for a RIT. With the temperature at roughly 10 degrees, crews stretched numerous lines and wen to work battling the fire in the single story dwelling. All visible fire was extinguished within 40 minutes. The Nissequogue FD sent an engine to cover for St. James for the duration and the Centereach FD sent an ambulance. There were no injuries. Fire Marshals from the Town of Smithtown Department of Public Safety are handling the investigation.
